How to find the correct XDF

Quick guide to download the correct XDF

 

Here you can find a resume of HEX addresses where to find the ECU Calibration number in order to be able to download the correct XDF: 

Open the Binary File (.bin, .ori, .mod, etc) using the correct software.

There are a lot of software (free or not) able to open the binary files read out from the engine control unit.

For example you can use HxD software (hexadecimal software).

Download and Install HxD: visit HxD website and download the free hex editor and install it.

Open HxD: run the application after installation.

Load the Binary File: Click on File > Open

- Select your binary file (.bin or any other extension) - Click Open

Explore the File: HxD displays the hex view (hexadecimal on the left, ASCII on the right). You can also edit, search for byte patterns, and analyze structure.

How to search for the correct calibration number (ID number) inside the binary file.

Here an example with a Suzuki ME17.9.64 file and using Hxd software.

Usually on the new Bosch ECU the calibration number start with 10SW........

After the binary file opening, click on keyboard CTRL + F to open the search menu:

hxd ctrl + F
Search 10SW and click OK.
Hxd will shown some results with the same 10SW:

In this case 10SW018950 is the correct calibration number.

You can now search it on our website in two ways:

1. Open the menu on oldskulltuning.shop and select Bosch ME17.9.64 Suzuki:

2. Search the calibration number via the SEARCH tool on our website:

Calibration Code Location Information

Our support team will include, in the description of each XDF file, the hexadecimal address where the calibration code can be found within the binary file. This information is provided to help you quickly locate and verify the calibration code using a hex editor.

How to Go to a Specific Hexadecimal Address in HxD

To navigate to the address provided in the XDF description using HxD, follow these steps:

Open HxD: launch the software after installation.

Open the Binary File: click on File > Open and select your .bin file.

Go to the Hex Address: press Ctrl + G (or go to Search > Goto...)

- In the dialog box, enter the hexadecimal address (e.g., 1A2B3C)

- Make sure the "Hex" option is selected (not Decimal).

- Click OK

View the Location: the cursor will jump directly to the specified address, allowing you to view and analyze the calibration code stored there.
